Arkalala
By Joseph Fisher
Arkalala comes every year to Ark City every fall, where friends and family gather to watch the parade. Arkalala is also a parade where bands come from all around the state to compete for first place. This years theme will be out of this world.
Every year the CHS band and the Jr. High band go to Ark City to compete in the competition. This year the high school band has seen a drastic decrease in the number of participants. There just aren't enough people to get the big, thunderous sound required to play the piece they picked out. So this year, instead of having a high school band and a Jr. High band, we will have a Runner band. Mrs. Lada plans on combining the two bands into one massive one for a bigger sound. There are downsides however. The song is challenging for the middle school band and some of the parts of the song had to be cut out.
All in all, this looks to be a good year for the runner band. With all the extra people there is bound to be better results. Getting to first place would be an excellent achievement and would make our new band teacher look better. We all hope to see you at the 2014 Arkalala parade.
